The Station Height Cal option opens the 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel. This panel is used to establish the level of the instrument station point.
Note: The 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel is ONLY used for establishing level and therefore will use the positional co-ordinates of the last known setup. This option is mainly used when the user is required to check or advise of levels on the job. Storing points after this setup will only have the correct Z value and the X & Y will be in relation to the last known setup.

The 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel consists of 4 tabs titled Main, Details, Levels and Params. The panel also has several buttons that are common across many 12d Field panels.

The Main tab on the 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel is used to select which control point is to be measured with the instrument, and to enter the appropriate target height and instrument height.
All that the user needs to do is select the point (by using the Select pt arrow button) that the measurement will be taken on. The Id (point id of selected point) and Model (the model that the selected point is in) fields will automatically be derived from the point selected.
In the image below, SSM400 (the point that the first measurement will be taken at) has been selected and a instrument height of 1.3 has been entered. After taking the measurement a shot count of 1 is displayed.
Note: The output window on the 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel displays the calculated station level.
To take another measurement to a different control point the user needs to just select the control point, using the Select pt arrow button again, and command the instrument to take the measurement by using one of the measurement command buttons (<SNGL> or <MULT>).
The 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel allows the user to take a maximum of six shots.
The image below shows a 6 point resection (the shot count is 6).
Note: The output window on the 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel states the calculated station level (Stn Level: 15.7175) and the average RL difference (zd: 0.0013).
The Details tab on the 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel displays the same information as the output window.
The Levels tab on the 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel displays the information relating to the height accuracy of each measurement taken. This allows the user to decide what measurements to use to achieve the best possible result for the station calculation .
In the image below the control points 4, 5 & 7 have been toggled off, this has a resulted in the average RL difference being 0.000 (zd: 0.000). 12d Field recalculates the station results instantly, when control points are toggled off or on, and displays the new calculated Level and RL difference in both the output window and the Details tab.
The Params tab on the 12d Field – Inst Stat Hgt Cal panel allows the user to set the tolerances 12d Field will accept in establishing the station. If the maximum height difference (zd) is not within the set parameters a warning will be displayed, after pressing the finish button, and an option to accept or decline the setup will be given.
